What’s preventing men from accessing healthcare? And how can we take steps to make positive change?
In this episode we’re continuing our inclusive healthcare theme, this time focusing on men's health and the ‘silent crisis’ that’s been allowed to develop.
Men all across the world are dying prematurely, and the gender life expectancy gap is increasing. Men are more likely to die of heart disease and cancer than women, there’s also a hidden male mental health crisis, with men more than twice as likely to take their own lives. These poor health outcomes are incredibly damaging to families, businesses, and societies more widely.
We know men aren’t proactive enough about their health.
Whether it’s to avoid looking ‘weak’, embarrassment, or just not wanting to confront uncomfortable truths. Men often avoid seeking help, for their mental or physical health, until their conditions become more serious. This session explores how businesses, healthcare providers and policymakers must act now to invest in better education, challenge outdated male stereotypes, and build the case for a global men’s health strategy.
