Bupa Global announces new IPMI solution for customers in Romania

April 2026

We have announced an exciting new strategic partnership between SIGNAL IDUNA Romania and Bupa Global, offering companies in Romania an integrated solution to support employees with local and international health insurance.

Our recent launch event in Bucharest brought together leaders from both companies and intermediary partners to explore the biggest challenges in global healthcare. They discussed how this new partnership can help employers support and protect their people at home and abroad.

Why we’ve partnered with SIGNAL IDUNA?

This partnership gives employers a simple way to integrate local health insurance with complementary international cover. Together we combine two specialist insurers, each a leader in their field, to support organisations with mobile teams, regional roles and international responsibilities.

With more than 18 years of experience in the local market, SIGNAL IDUNA offers health insurance solutions tailored to the specific needs of clients in Romania, providing rapid access to medical services in any clinic, hospital, or laboratory within any private healthcare network in the country.

Bupa Global adds international reach through its extensive medical network, giving access to more than two million healthcare providers. With international cover, customers can access leading hospitals and specialists directly, including renowned medical centres, as well as emergency medical evacuation and repatriation if they need urgent support abroad.

How will this solution help customers in Romania?

Our new partnership is supported by dedicated digital tools that make it easy to access policy details, manage documents and reimbursements, book appointments and use telemedicine services. Customers also have 24/7 medical support wherever they are in the world.

For employers, the integrated solution supports cost efficiency while enhancing the value of their employee benefits. Consistent medical cover across borders gives organisations a competitive edge in attracting and retaining talent.

Tiberiu Maier, President of the Management Board, SIGNAL IDUNA, said: “Through our partnership with Bupa Global, we enable companies in Romania to integrate both local protection and international coverage into a single benefits strategy. This step sets a new standard in how we support organizations that invest long term in the health and safety of their teams,”

James O’Reilly, General Manager for Bupa Global, Europe said: “This partnership allows us to bring companies in Romania a more connected health insurance experience. Together with SIGNAL IDUNA, we’re giving employees access to trusted care at home and worldwide. It marks the start of a long term collaboration, with the joint solution already available. We’re committed to raising the standard of medical protection for organisations with internationally mobile teams, and we’ll continue developing solutions shaped around local needs and global health trends.”

The partnership marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between SIGNAL IDUNA and Bupa Global, and the new solution is already available in Romania.
